Screen Shot 2017-10-02 at 12.58.08 PMHave you tried that newer “rosy-rusty mauve” color in your wardrobe yet? I didn’t think I could do mauve after the 1980’s and 90’s, but it is a little different. And because we are open to doing more exciting combinations we can pair it with Olive Green, Navy/vibrant Blues, Blacks and some Greys!

And then there is GOLD! One of my all time favorites. Many shades from pale Maize to Mustard and Orange. Just find the right one for you and mix it all up! Here is one skirt (if you have a waistline) I just love.

For a meeting or just when you need a lift, add those Red accessories! Here is one top that I sort of like….Screen Shot 2017-10-02 at 1.34.58 PMI am a lover of scarves, as my mother was. So I add scarves to my long neck, sometimes chokers, sometimes long necklaces. I wear nice jeans and leggings that are not too tight. But whatever you do…don’t sell yourself short! Wear what you like with a touch of New Fashion and have a pleasant day!!!

Some of the hottest fashions this year are easy to sew designs brought back from the 1960’s and 1970’s. Just look at vintage patterns online to see what I mean! Some even reach back to the 1940’s and 1950’s too!

I guess I am wondering why some people pay over $100 for a top or skirt these days? Time is a factor but I feel we are all loosing our sense of value when it comes to shelling out the big bucks for certain items. Everyday items.

So here is what I came up with…a lady who doesn’t know how to sew. It’s just now hot enough to wear it!

This was taken from the older “Pillowcase Dress” concept where you make a little girl’s dress from a pillowcase. Just cut your material in two pieces like a pillowcase and go from there! There are many videos on U-Tube and I watched several for ideas. I had the material on hand so that made it even easier! Hope you try one too!

I am going to steal a very good article from a Tennessee lady’s fashion site to reassure you that there is a way to make your favorite jeans work if you are having a hard time finding the perfect jeans for yourself! offers great visuals and ideas as well as a source for purchases.

Please let me know if you like these suggestions!

Not everyone has their own crochet expert designer to make their hats like I do, but most department stores do have a section for hats, scarves and gloves. Don’t wait for your friends to start wearing them! Find your own style and add one to your favorite outfit. I have several colors. This one is black with flecks of other colors. And I almost forgot…the smaller silk neck tie scarves are a hit this year after heavy large scarves have dominated the scene for the last 3 years. I am wearing this plaid long shirt with grey leggings.

See you next time, Mary

Transitional Clothes For Fall

Before you don those chunky sweaters, suede skirts and bomber jackets, try mixing your spring/summer clothes with vests, scarves or light sweaters of Fall colors such as golds, oranges, ambers, greens, rusts and browns.

If you jump into your Fall/Winter wardrobe too quickly, you will get tired of it before January! Use your imagination and spice up those things still hanging in your closet. And don’t forget…black goes with almost anything these days!

Have fun and enjoy our season of Autumn!     Love, Mary

So Am I Busy?

In addition to the color chart I placed on this site last visit, I want to tell you what I found out. Dark Chocolate Browns, Honey, Golds, Amber, Dark Maroons will round out your wardrobe this Fall 2016. I’ve been back to painting! Here I show my newest venture painting leather with a two-tone bag! Saddle Bags will be one of the throw-backs on accessories.

Here are those “to die for” colors for this Fall, 2016. And all ages can wear these, too! Wonder what color your new handbag should be? What about a new scarf or belt? I vote for SPICY MUSTARD’, also called Ochre, Dark Marigold, etc. Well, check these colors out, but don’t wait too long. As soon as those hot days cool off and start to fade away, you’ll want that new “sprint” of color to carry you off as you parade down Main Street, USA.

BELTS!! Which Loop are you on?

2016 Belt Loop Style

If you chose to wear a belt, it is important not only where you wear the belt on your body shape, but how it looks on the garment itself. If you do not have a true waistline and have an apple shape, then wearing a belt higher or lower will distract from a thick middle. If you are fortunate to have a pear shaped body and have a real waist, then you can certainly wear your belt on the true waist of a dress or tunic.
